Specification and capability

Everything technical in one place, so it is out of the way of someone ordering 50 and immediately to hand for someone ordering five thousand.

01The candle

One specification, made the same way every time

Vessel30cl flint glass, heavy base
Dimensions80 mm dia x 95 mm
Wax100% soy, Golden Brands 464
Fill weight200 g
Fragrance load10%
WickStabilo 12, single
Burn time45 to 50 hours
Cure14 days
Front label area64 x 78 mm
Lot codeOn every candle
Minimum run50 units per SKU

Changing the fragrance, the load, the wax or the wick invalidates the burn testing for that combination, which is why the configurator will not let you. A 20cl tumbler and a 50cl three wick are in testing and will not be offered until they pass.

02Capability

What we can actually take on

Curing positions on site2,000
Largest single run today1,300
Cure cycle14 days, no exceptions
Lead time, 250 units17 working days
Lead time, own fragrance+10 working days

IndicativeCuring capacity is a verified count. Lead times are modelled from our own measured production times and are confirmed per order rather than promised in advance. We are working towards a larger facility and we will publish that capacity when it is operating, not before.

The binding constraint on this business is rack space, not people. A candle occupies a curing position for 14 days whether anyone is working that day or not, so we would rather turn work away than take an order we cannot cure.

03Fragrance routes

Three routes, three minimums

In buildThe House Collection is being bought and burn tested now. Until a fragrance has passed testing in this vessel at a 10% load we will not offer it, so the published list starts short and grows.

Appearance. Natural soy wax frosts. It may show minor wet spots where the wax pulls away from the glass, and small surface variation across a batch. These are characteristics of natural wax, not faults, and they do not affect how the candle burns. If you want a glass-smooth, identical finish on every unit you want a paraffin blend, and we would rather tell you that now than argue about it after a run.

What we will remake. Anything that does not match the specification you approved: wrong fill, wrong label, wrong placement, damaged glass, a fragrance that is not the one you chose. Tell us within 14 days with the lot code.

05Labels and compliance

Who is responsible for what

You are the supplier placing the product on the market. Your name and address appear on the label and the legal duties that go with that are yours, not ours. That is true of every contract manufacturer, and anyone who tells you otherwise is worth a second look.

What we do. We prepare a draft hazard panel for your back label using the safety data supplied to us by the fragrance house, at the load we pour, and send it to you for approval. We will not print a panel you have not approved. We do not blend fragrances, so the safety data we give you is the fragrance house's own.

What we do not do. We are not qualified to give regulatory advice and we do not offer our draft as such. We will send everything we hold on your fragrance to any adviser you choose.

06Everything else
Can you actually manufacture at scale?
We hold 2,000 curing positions, which at a 14 day cure is a theoretical ceiling of about 4,200 candles a month, and the largest single run we will accept today is 1,300. We would rather give you the real number and turn work away than take an order we cannot cure.
Will the candles be consistent?
One vessel, one wax, one fragrance load, one wick size, and every fragrance burn tested in that exact combination. Your specification is stored and every future run is poured and checked against it.
Will they arrive on time?
Lead times are built from measured production times and start the day you approve your artwork. They are estimates made in good faith, not guarantees, and we confirm your slot before taking a deposit.
What happens to my fragrance and my formula?
If you bring an oil, we do not sell it to anyone else and we do not use it in any other product. We will sign an NDA before you send a sample.
Will you make my candle for someone else?
No. The combination of your fragrance and your label is yours. House Collection fragrances are shared across customers by their nature, and we say so up front.
What if my demand suddenly increases?
Tell us early and we will hold capacity. The honest constraint is curing space, so a jump from 200 to 2,000 a month needs weeks of notice rather than days.
How do I pay?
50% deposit to reserve your production slot, balance invoiced before dispatch. Deposits up to £2,000 go on card, above that by bank transfer. The deposit becomes non refundable once we buy your materials, and we email you the day that happens.
Do you sell your own candles?
House of Wax is a manufacturer. We are not building a consumer candle brand that competes with yours, and we do not put our name on your product.
